MONROVIA – In a decisive step toward revitalizing Liberia’s anti-corruption framework, the National Integrity Forum (NIF) Technical Committee convened its first strategic session of the year on Tuesday, January 13, 2026. The meeting, hosted at the Governance Commission (GC) in Sinkor, laid the groundwork for an ambitious 2026 agenda focused on institutional rebranding, scaling political accountability projects, and enhancing inter-agency collaboration.
The session served as a platform for member institutions to conduct a "sober reflection" on the milestones and bottlenecks of 2025. Central to the agenda was the development of a robust 2026 work plan aimed at tightening the net on public sector corruption. Discussions also centered on soliciting further partnerships to ensure the sustainability of the NIF’s initiatives and their ability to influence grassroots governance.
Making special remarks, Commissioner Matthew B. Kollie, Oversight Commissioner for the National Integrity System (NIS) at the Governance Commission, opened the proceedings with a call for renewed dedication.
“Our success depends on a Technical Committee that is not just active, but deeply dedicated to a collaborative spirit,” Commissioner Kollie stated. “To truly reduce corruption, we must promote an unwavering culture of integrity across every level of Liberian society.”
Echoing this sentiment, Madam Josephine Chelly, Chairperson of the NIF Technical Committee, urged the body to move beyond traditional methods. She committed to leading a comprehensive "rebranding" effort for the Forum, focusing on innovative approaches to increase its visibility and impact in its national oversight role.
The NIF serves as the primary umbrella organization uniting Liberia’s key transparency and accountability institutions. This coalition creates a unified front against financial crimes and administrative malpractice.
Key participating institutions include the Governance Commission (GC), the Public Procurement and Concessions Commission (PPCC), the Independent Information Commission (IIC), the General Auditing Commission (GAC), the Internal Audit Agency (IAA), the Financial Intelligence Agency (FIA), the Center for Transparency and Accountability in Liberia (CENTAL), and the Accountability Lab. Specialized sectors such as the Liberia Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (LEITI) and the National Identification Registry (NIR) also contribute to the Forum’s work.
The meeting concluded with a consensus to finalize the detailed 2026 roadmap by the end of the first quarter, signaling a more aggressive and coordinated national stance on accountability for the year ahead.
