GC builds staff capacity with internal M&E training
Monrovia, Liberia (January 20, 2026)-The Governance Commission through its Monitoring & Evaluation, Research and Publication (MERP) Mandate area has concluded an internal three day training for employees of the commission on fundamental monitoring and evaluation.
The training ended on Thursday, January 16, 2026 and was mainly focused on introducing the GCās staff to basic governance monitoring and evaluation procedures.
Speaking to the participants as the lead facilitators, the Program Manager of the Monitoring and Evaluation, Research and Publication Mandate Area of the Governance Commission McNeil Wilson noted that the training was designed for the GC staff to have a broader idea of what M&E is about.
Deliberating on the importance of M&E, Mr. Wilson said it is important because people and their managers are working so hard to ensure that things are always done right and they hardly have the time to decide if they are doing the right thing. "Monitoring and Evaluating helps track progress and performance", he noted.
Mr. Wilson who is also the Program Coordinator of the GC further emphasized that M&E enables an organization to know what works and what does not. "To move forward as an organization on the basis of continuous and systematic understanding of the effect and impact of what the organization has set to achieve, monitoring and evaluation must always be implemented, Mr. Wilson concluded.
Meanwhile, staff of the Governance Commission who benefited from the two days intensive training have applauded the MERP Mandate Area for initiating the two days training, saying their minds have been refreshed with new and additional knowledge to enhance their performances.
About 30 staff from the Five Mandate Areas of the commission attended the three days training.
