‎MONROVIA, LIBERIA – A delegation from the Governance Commission (GC) on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 met with the African Development Bank (AfDB) in Monrovia.

‎The meeting, held at the AfDB Country Office in Congo Town, aimed to revitalize the relationship between the Commission and one of its premier donor partners to modernize the nation's anti-corruption infrastructure.

‎The delegation was led by Commissioner Matthew B. Kollie, Jr., Oversight Commissioner for the National Integrity System (NIS). He engaged in foundational discussions with Mr. Yusuf Bob Foday, AfDB’s Senior Country Economist and Officer-In-Charge, focusing on four critical pillars of governance reform:

‎ 1. Development of a National Integrity Index (NII) to establish a data-driven metric that will assess the ethical performance of both public and private institutions.
‎ 2. Revision of the National Integrity Strategy in updating the original 2006–2008 strategy to reflect modern governance challenges and international best practices.
‎ 3. Second National Integrity Barometer that will help in Conducting a nationwide assessment to gauge public perception and the institutional reality of accountability in Liberia.
‎4. Facilitation of Policy Dialogues to Create a high level platforms for stakeholders to deliberate on essential legislative and administrative reforms.

‎Commissioner Kollie hailed the meeting as a significant milestone in reconnecting with the GC’s traditional partners. ‎"The AfDB has historically been a strong supporter of Liberian institutional building. This renewed dialogue signals a shift toward more robust, evidence based integrity monitoring," Commissioner Kollie stated.

‎The session concluded with a mutual pledge to hold further consultations. These upcoming meetings will focus on finalizing the technical and financial frameworks necessary to bring these integrity projects to fruition.
