Governance Commission Gets New Acting Chair
(Monrovia, May 13, 2024) --The Acting Chairman of the Governance Commission (GC) has held his first acquaintance meeting with the commissioners and staff of the institution, with a call to work together and develop Liberia.
Speaking during the meeting, Prof. Alaric Tokpah disclosed that the job at the Governance Commission is more demanding. He called on the GC staff to work together, adding that only Liberians can develop Liberia. He used the occasion to inform the gathering that he only need hardworking people at the Governance Commission.
The Acting Chairperson assured the staff of his fullest commitment to improving the institution's agenda under his stewardship calling on the GC family for their fullest cooperation to help boost the institution's manifestos in ensuring the functionality of all government entities in Liberia.
Prof. Alaric Tokpah further disclosed that an engagement is in the making to purchase land and build the Governance Commission conference center.
The acting chair noted as a think tank institution that is the dream-bearer of the decentralization flagship program under the political and legal reform mandate area, it is expedient to serve by example through the relocation process.
He then thanked President Boakai for the preferment, saying he is well placed as a signatory to the Accra Peace Accord, which is the document that birthed the Governance Commission.
Also speaking during the meeting, the Acting Commissioner for the Public Sector Reform Mandate area, Sianneh Juah, thanked the president for appointing her to the post. She expressed optimism that staff at the Governance Commission will observe best practices in their daily activities to move the Governance Commission forward.
Meanwhile, the oversight commissioner on Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Publication Cllr. Stanley Kparklain thanked the Acting Chairman and assured him of a cordial working relationship to give the Commission the attention it deserves.
