The Governance Commission in collaboration with the National Civil Society group today Thursday, April 27, 2023, completed a partnership dialogue on process review of the first phase of the Biometric Voter’s registration report here at the Carina Hotel in Monrovia. The partnership dialogue brought together stakeholders and international partners and civil society officials from across the country to examine the first phase of biometric voter registration.
Speaking at the opening of the partnership dialogue, The Chairman of the Governance Commission Garrison D. Yealue, Jr. praised responsible institutions and partners in the election process for their efforts and professionalism shown in the early stage of the Voter registration process. The chairman cautioned institutions involved to exhibit a high degree of professionalism to encourage popular participation in the voter registration process.
Chairman Yealue, spoke passionately about the importance of voter registration, emphasizing that it is the foundation of a democratic process. He pointed out that it was crucial for every eligible citizen to have the opportunity to participate in the election process and have their voices heard.
The Chairman, highlighted the importance of a peaceful and transparent election process, emphasizing that it is the key to a stable and prosperous Liberia. He reminded the participants that violence and unrest only lead to chaos and instability, and urged all citizens to exercise their democratic rights in a peaceful manner.
The Dialogue's main emphasis was to examine the “Phase One Report of the BVR Process highlighting the Challenges, Lessons Learned Recommendations, and Next Steps.
Augustin Tamba, head of the Secretariat of the Liberia Election Observation Network-LEON made the presentations on the report and available data collected in the just-ended process.
